Union Assurance, Sri Lanka’s leading Life Insurer, has recently donated musical instruments to Gairanagama Vidyalaya in recognition and support of the outstanding efforts of Ms. Buddhima Abeysinghe, the school’s drama teacher. Ms. Abeysinghe’s dedication to expanding the curriculum by introducing drama has not only broadened the horizons of the students but has also showcased their incredible potential.

Upon her appointment to the school in 2016, Ms. Abeysinghe identified the limited choice of aesthetic subjects in the curriculum and, undeterred by challenges, went above and beyond to introduce drama to the students. Her relentless efforts, along with the support of her team, have resulted in numerous accolades for the young talent of Gairanagama Vidyalaya. The achievements include notable awards such as Best Script, Best Drama, Best Actor, and Best Actress in various regional and district competitions.

Recognizing the remarkable achievements of these students and the passion exhibited by Ms. Abeysinghe, Union Assurance has stepped forward to donate a variety of musical instruments that would support the subject. This donation aims to provide the necessary resources that the students require to nurture their talents and enhance their performances.

Ms. Abeysinghe expressed her gratitude, stating, “It was evident that our students had many talents, and I only wanted to be a positive force that helped to showcase them. My heartfelt thanks to Union Assurance for identifying a desperate need and coming forward as a responsible corporate citizen to help these students by donating this musical instruments. I believe this will go a long way in enabling them to perform even better in the future and bring glory to the school.”
