All necessary data relevant to the reduction of electricity tariffs have already been provided to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), State Minister of Power & Energy Indika Anurudda said on Friday (Jan.05).

He emphasized that preliminary measures are being taken to reduce the electricity tariffs before February.

“The PUCSL will study the data over the course of 20 days. Thus we believe that a tariff revision is possible before February. I cannot mention the percentage [by which the tariffs would be reduced]. The entire responsibility [regarding the tariff revision] lies with the Public Utilities Commission.”

The state minister also expressed hopes that electricity tariffs would go down by a substantial amount, providing relief to the consumers.
