Subodha Perera Founder & CEO of Econsulate CEO of TASA Lanka

As the world evolves with the exponential growth of technology and organisations strive to keep up to industry standards and reach maximum efficiency, streamlined processes and tailor-made solutions are most often the key to success. E-consulate takes this to heart and is spear-heading the revolution of Software services, AI & Robotics and Talent Development industries with cutting edge technology and innovative digital solutions. At the helm of this exciting venture is the charismatic Subodha Perera and he talks to us about his career journey and how he has brought his company to the forefront of a data-driven future.

Graduating from Wichita State University in Kansas USA with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems and International Business, Subodha started his career at State Farm Cooperation, a USA Fortune 100 company, as a Build and Release Engineer. Since then he has gone on to gain a plethora of valuable experience working with multiple fortune 100 companies, including Sysco Labs, and has gained over 10 years of experience in the Software Industry.

When he turned 29, he decided to use this valuable experience to embark on his own venture and build a company from scratch. Founded in March 2020, E-consulate has now evolved into a successful company within a period of 2 ½ years with a team of over 120 members offering multiple verticals and various innovations, and boasting its own patented product.

Although disaster struck within 2 days of forming the company in the form of a global pandemic, E-consulate managed to stay strong and power through the crisis. The pandemic and the economic crisis caused by it led to 2020 being a very challenging year and many people believed that it would be very difficult for startups to thrive in this climate, however E-consulate proved all the non believers wrong and continued to prosper and expand into 3 subsidiary companies called Xavier AI, SCM Studios and iSource Labs while also embarking on a joint venture with a globally-renowned BPO organisation, TASA Solutions Sdn Bhd, based in Malaysia.

The organisation has managed to align their priorities with its vision fueled by the passion for innovation & growth and a need to contribute to sustainable development goals such as decent work & economic growth, climate action, industry innovation & infrastructure and building sustainable cities & communities which has led to its continuous success.

TASA is an experience-based solutions provider which focuses on four main verticals, which are Customer Experience (CX), User Experience (UX), Supply Chain Experience (SCX) and Management Experience (MX) requirements. Operations in Sri Lanka are mainly focused on CX and UX, which are based on software development and agent-based customer experience. Having started their operations in May 2022 during the peak of Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, TASA has managed to create 60 employment opportunities within the first five months of operation and is geared to expand their operations in diverse verticals as they aspire to be a leading Tech and BPO company in the country.

TASA Solutions brings many benefits to Sri Lanka, including an influx of foreign currency. Furthermore, as the company expands, local staff will receive numerous opportunities to expand their horizons, including exposure to global giants, which will greatly assist in their career progression. The Sri Lankan Branch of TASA currently provides BPO services for many industry giants, including the world’s largest cryptocurrency platform, some of the most significant electronics companies in the world, Japan’s largest retail company and one of the most popular airlines in the world. TASA looks to unleash the true potential of the local market and the untapped talent that Sri Lanka has to offer.

When asked about the challenges faced throughout the organisation’s startup journey, Subodha remarks, “We cannot succeed if there aren’t any challenges to face. E-consulate was founded during the pandemic. Building a tech startup during the pandemic and economic crises was a huge challenge for us. But we thrived through these challenges and were also able to contribute to the country’s economy positively.” E-consulate is a diversified tech hub with a great culture and a fantastic team. Subodha contributes most of the organisation’s success to this amazing team and mentions that the team has been the most significant part of his professional growth. He considers them the driving force behind the fastest-growing tech company in the region. He is also incredibly proud of how each team member has grown in this organisation, both in career development and personality development, and is grateful that each member contributes to the organisation like it is their own.

The organisation is also in the process of innovating multiple patented products and focusing more towards building autonomous robotics platforms. Aligning with the UN sustainable development goals, they have developed a patented “Autonomous Robotic Platform”. This platform is fully equipped to navigate on uneven terrains without an initial landscape map. This innovation can assist multiple industries such as Agriculture, Warehouse management, Disaster management and various other applications.

Subodha is highly optimistic about the future and strongly believes in empowering young minds to drive innovation and economic growth. He believes that most aspiring entrepreneurs wish to start something of their own, but they are afraid to take that first important step and encourages young entrepreneurs not to think twice about taking that risk. If you are passionate about your vision, success will automatically follow. It’s also important not to forget that your employees are one of your biggest strengths. Don’t be reluctant to invest more in them.

“Build a strong, trustworthy team and a solid culture which will make you feel stronger and more focused.
