Galle Fort, Surrounded by a rampart wall first built by the Portuguese in the 1500s is set on a peninsula on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. It was later adapted by the Dutch and British and also famously known as Dutch Fort. The heritage value of the Fort has been recognized by UNESCO and named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its historical, archaeological, and architectural value, which even after more than 500 years maintains the appearance of its glory days.
