Sampath Bank has appointed Sanjaya Dias Pujitha Gunawardana as Managing Director-Designate, effective 1 July 2025. He will officially take over as Managing Director on 25 September, following the retirement of current MD Ayodhya Iddawela Perera, who goes on leave starting July.
Gunawardana, currently Chief Strategy Officer, has been with Sampath Bank for over 35 years and has held key roles in strategy, retail banking, and IT.
The bank also announced the appointment of Deepal de Silva as Chief Operating Officer from 1 July 2025. De Silva, with more than 35 years of experience, currently serves as Senior Deputy General Manager – Operations and Branch Banking and has been instrumental in driving the bank’s customer service and operational excellence.
