Home Improvement and gardening have become the new norm for most Sri Lankans during the pandemic. The Pot Story is fast becoming the favoured store to pick up some stylish products from its wide range of decorative garden products. A Marketer by profession who pioneered the local Direct Marketing industry in the early nineties, Priyanga Hapugalle is the Founder of The Pot Story. His passion for design and décor was rekindled during the pandemic as he turned towards one of his favourite pastimes in painting pots and vases.

By the advent of 2021, The Pot Story positioned itself to serve the interior design and landscaping market with a wide array of decorative garden products. Pots and Planters made from cement, terra cotta, wrought iron, cane, reed and even wood are sourced from around the country to its discerning clientele. Some terra cotta pots are limited edition designs as they are seasonal. In addition, the rustic collection of clay pots that inject character is much sought after by the hotel and leisure sector.

The unique range of hand-painted pots can set the mood for your living spaces. Whilst their stylish designs in black, grey and white are the popular choices, there are bold designs that are contemporary in their presentation. The Pot Story has just released its new hand-painted designs in the rustic collection, which has a vintage presence and are genuinely exclusive. The wooden and wrought iron designs add variety to its range of Pots and Planters. Most of the wooden pot holders are made of pine and cypress wood as they illustrate beautiful grains and texture than those with a perfect finish. They come in various shapes and sizes, including wall-mounted, shelve types and pot stands. Apart from the regular series of wrought iron pot holders, it is possible to order designs with a combination of wood and wrought iron.

Most products can also be customized to an extent. For example, the Pot Story works closely with interior designers and landscape artists with specific requirements, including colour themes. The interior design and home improvement industry has opened up so much that design expertise is called in to decorate most homes and commercial spaces today. The Pot Story supports the trend towards sculptural furniture and accessories in interior design through an assortment of figures, pillars, vases, and other carefully curated shapes and organic forms that add drama to your living spaces.

Cement is a very versatile and creative form of material to work with. Cement furniture is not just a passing trend; it is here to stay. With the durability, versatility and sophistication offered by the material, it is the best way to add a modern accent to your home décor. The cement benches, tables, shelves etc with a polished cement finish are not just for the exteriors. We see a genuine trend in the placement of cement-based furniture in the living room or even the bedroom. You only need to throw in some colourful cushions on a modern cement bench in your home or place a glass top on cement pillars for your dining table to make it attractive. Cement furniture in the office is also a great choice to create an earthy look and feel. The Pot Story offers regular cement furniture shapes and undertakes customized designs.

Although the Pot Story does not offer plants in general, selected sets of pots with plants are available on request. We mainly work with air-purifying plants such as Sansevieria, Spider plants or Aloe Vera for indoor use. A variety of decorative garden pebbles and hydroton clay balls can also be sourced to spice up your presentation of pots, driveways and courtyards.

The overall positioning of The Pot Story is guided by their commitment to unearth and support the skilled craftsmen and resources in the country. They are a somewhat neglected community who are willing to explore and experiment with some of the contemporary designs we work with. Thus, The Pot Story is a truly Sri Lankan company committed to promoting eco-friendly products. It is also heartening to note that most of their products contribute towards a healthy society as gardening on its own provides both physical and mental wellbeing.

Apart from the home and apartment owners, the commercial sector, including offices, hotels, and retail stores, are regular customers of The Pot Story. We also have special arrangements for interior designers and landscape artists for projects. All in all, The Pot Story is keen to be part of the evolving crafts and design sector and will soon introduce some new products to complement its range of over 300 products.
