As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to take its toll on Sri Lanka’s healthcare system, AIA Insurance has come forward to provide much needed support to frontline hospitals treating Covid patients. As part of the insurer’s ongoing pledge to help battle the pandemic, the company has donated a range of medical equipment to the Avissawella, Divulapitiya, Gampaha and Kuliyapitiya hospitals.

AIA’s CEO Nikhil Advani noted, “in April last year, at the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, AIA pledged its support to help Sri Lanka fight Covid -19. Since then we have been proactively working towards this goal, be it through our social awareness campaigns, CSR or product offerings. During this wave of infections, we reached out to the frontline hospitals to understand what their respective needs were and went about providing them with the required items. To this end, we donated handheld dopplers, wall oxygen regulators and syringe   pumps to the Avissawella hospital, while the Divulapitiya hospital received a much needed cardiac multi monitor. The Gampaha hospital received infusion and syringe pumps as well as wall oxygen regulators and the Kuliyapitiya hospital’s request for an industrial washing machine was granted. We will continue to carry out our pledge to help in any way we can, so that the healthcare system can function at maximum efficiency and together, we can beat this dreadful pandemic.”

As a company committed to helping people live healthier, longer, better lives, AIA is determined to play its part in helping Sri Lanka overcome the pandemic. While supporting the healthcare system, the company also urges all citizens to continue to follow hygiene guidelines, act responsibly and rise together as a united force that supports that cares for each other and our country.
